Utiligize wins 2023 Innovation Prize

Utiligize has won Energy Cluster Denmark’s prize for most innovative project in 2023, as a part of the Flexibility Heat Grid Bornholm project, together with The Technical University of Denmark, Bornholm’s Energi og Forsyning and Neogrid.

The prize was awarded at Energy Cluster’s Annual Meeting, held in Fredericia, Denmark this week, as voted by its members, a membership including ABB, Ørsted, Siemens Gamesa and Vestas.

The award recognizes Utiligize’s Forecast & Investment tool, which was expanded last year to district heating systems, which is used by utilities to identify investments and activation of flexibility that reduce network losses by 11% and maximize capacity. The project demonstrated flexibility grid utilization for customers on Bornholm.

“The 2023 Innovation Project of the Year is a game-changer for the citizens in Listed, Bornholm, who both get a lower heating bill and a greener consumption profile, and also for the contributing companies. It pays to collaborate in innovation, and in Energy Cluster Denmark, we are delighted to support green innovation that makes a real difference. Congratulations to the companies [Utiligize, DTU, BEOF and Neogrid] for this year’s prize and to everyone else, who will benefit in the long run”, said Glenda Napier, CEO of Energy Cluster Denmark.
